Crash :-(

Venerdì 8 luglio, durante un test in orario serale (intorno alle 20), dopo 10 minuti dalla partenza Andrea ha perso i sensi a bordo di PulsaR e di conseguenza ha impattato a circa 52 km/h il muretto sul lato sinistro, cadendo poi sul lato destro. Andrea è rinvenuto poco dopo, non appena estratto dalla carena, ed è stato trasportato al pronto soccorso dove l'hanno tenuto in osservazione per la notte. Prognosi di 7 giorni per trauma cranico, 3-4 ore di amnesia  ed un'escoriazione alla mano destra. Ora Andrea sta migliorando gradualmente e guarda già avanti a quando potrà riprendere la preparazione per Battle Mountain.
Stiamo valutando con attenzione le cause, che sembrano essere legate sia alle condizioni ambientali (soprattutto umidità molto elevata, intorno all'80% con temperatura di 30 °C), sia alle condizioni fisiche di Andrea al momento del collaudo (giornata al lavoro, senza cena, periodo di intensa preparazione atletica).
Una caduta in bici a quella velocità ha solitamente conseguenze ben peggiori. Il caschetto e la carena hanno fatto la loro parte, così come le cinture che hanno trattenuto Andrea. L'esperienza sarà comunque occasione per valutare ulteriori miglioramenti alla sicurezza, che resta l'obiettivo primario fondamentale del progetto.
Da una prima analisi PulsaR non sembra aver riportato danni strutturali e, con l'aiuto del nostro partner Renna, dovremmo essere in grado di ripristinarla in tempo per un ultimo test a fine agosto e per il WHPSC di settembre 2016.

Friday 8th of July, during an evening test (around 8:00 PM), after 10 minutes from starting Andrea became unconcious on PulsaR and, as a consequence, laterally hitted the left wall at about 52 km/h and felt down on the right side. Andrea recovered few moments later, when extracted from the fairing and moved to the first aid hospital were it was under observation for the night. Seven days of prognosis for trauma concussion, 3-4 hours of amnesia and an abrasion on the right hand.  Now Andrea is gradually improving and looking forward to be back on the bike and to prepare for the next speed challenge in Battle Mountain.
We are carefully evaluating the reasons of the faint, that looks to be related to both environmental conditions (very high humidity, around 80% at a temperature of 30 °C) and Andrea physical conditions at the moment (full day at work, no dinner, intensive training period).
A bicycle crash at that speed usually brings worst consequences that we had. The helmet and the fairing did their job, as far as the safety belts holding Andrea in his position. Anyway, the experience will be a chance to introduce further improvements to safety, which is still the primary fundamental goal of the project.  
From a first analysis PulsaR does not seems to have structural damages and, with the help of our partner Renna, we should be able to fix it in time for a last testing in late August and for the WHPSC in September 2016.
